Excessive salt intake can indeed adversely affect blood pressure. But the ill effects of salt on blood pressure can be reduced by physical activity.
In the American Heart Association’s Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism / Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention Scientific Sessions 2011, researchers revealed that the more physically active person then would reduce the increase in blood pressure which is in response to high salt intake.
“Patients should be advised to increase their physical activity and reducing salt intake,” said Casey M. Rebholz, MPH as the head of studies from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, as quoted by the ScienceDaily, Thursday (24/03/2011) .
Rebholz said that limiting the intake of sodium (salt) is very important in lowering blood pressure in people who have a life of leisure or less physical activity.
If the average value of systolic blood pressure (the upper limit of blood pressure) increased by 5 percent or more while consuming a high sodium levels, the researchers will give a label as a high-salt sensitive (sensitive to high salt).

“The research we are doing because a lot of people who make New Year’s resolution by replacing the chocolate snack with dried fruit and nuts for more healthy and to lose weight.
